Use these guidelines to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems

Squirrel cage, 3-phase AC induction motors are the most common
prime movers in the process industries. This is chiefly because of
their generally low cost, reasonable size, ruggedness, low
maintenance and easily available power supply. Being very reliable,
these drives are often given less importance in machinery
management programs (MMP), and sometimes developing malfunctions
are ignored. The fact is that electric motors can fail in the same
manner as many other types of machinery.
