The United Steelworkers Union (USW) issued a press release chastising the oil industry for the series of fires and explosions that keep happening at US refineries. USW pointed out that there has been nearly one fire per week at US refineries in 2009 and thus far in 2010. Six of the fires and explosions this year resulted in 10 injuries and 9 deaths. Regrettably, these are not good statistics.
