In this case history, a petrochemical facility needed to improve operation control as well as profitability for a benzene-toluene-xylene (BTX) distillation train. The project focused on dual-composition material balance controls. Improved process control from the new control system provided an annual $1 million in energy savings and reduced feedstock reprocessing needs.
