MEXICO CITY -- Mexico's state-owned oil company Petroleos
Mexicanos, or Pemex, said Tuesday that 10 workers were killed
during a fire at a facility in the northern state of Tamaulipas
that transfers natural
gas and condensates from the firm's Burgos production
complex to Pemex's gas and petrochemical division.
Pemex said the fire broke out late in the morning and was
contained just after midday.
Rescue teams shut down the valves at the reception station
and Pemex sent a special team of firefighters to control the
Pemex said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that it had
confirmed 10 deaths as a result of the accident.
Valves and other equipment were damaged as a result of the
fire, which is under investigation by the oil company.
