TransCanada said Thursday its Keystone pipeline bringing oil from Western Canada to the US will be down for three days after an inspection found an anomaly with the pipeline Wednesday.

The anomaly, found in a section of the pipeline in Missouri, wasn't a leak, a TransCanada spokesman said.

The stoppage was taken as a preventative measure and wouldn't affect the oil shipments to customers "for now," and TransCanada was working with shippers to mitigate any interruptions in supply, the spokesman said.

Storms in the region would most likely prevent work crews from repairing the unspecified anomaly until Oct. 20, the spokesman said.

"Right now supply is not impacted, but don't know what those three days will do," the spokesman said.
