NEW DELHI -- As the 2013 version of the annual International Refining and Petrochemical Conference (IRPC) comes to a close, event officials announced that the 2014 conference will be held in Verona, Italy.

John Royall, CEO of event organizer Gulf Publishing Company , said the 2014 conference will again be a three-day event, taking place from June 24-26. IRPC is returning to Italy for the third time and for a third consecutive year, the conference plans to include an exclusive refinery tour as part of the package.

“Like past events, IRPC 2014 will be dedicated to exploring the latest advancements in technology and operations at refineries and petrochemical plants on both a local and global level,” Mr. Royall said.

Details on the site of the potential refinery tour will be announced shortly. A major theme of IRPC 2014 will be clean fuels and biofuels, organizers said.

The annual event, which kicked off in 2010 in Rome, moved to Singapore and Milan in 2011 and 2012, respectively. This year, the conference returned to the Asia-Pacific region and made its first stop in India.

Hosted by Indian Oil, the three-day 2013 event drew about 300 delegates from 25 countries and included a tour of Indian Oil’s flagship refinery in Panipat, located 100 km north of New Delhi.

“This was the only international downstream event held in India this year,” said Royall. “That’s significant.

“India is of utmost importance to the downstream sector and continues to grow," he added. "Many of the top industry innovations are going on in India, and because of that, it made perfect sense to take our event here.”
