SAN ANTONIO -- Tesoro's Golden Eagle refinery is performing repairs at
the crude unit after an October 26 blaze and expects to bring
it back online tomorrow, a person familiar with plant
A fuel burner at the unit caught fire, causing minor damage,
said the person, who asked not to be identified because the
information isnt public.
The units charge pump was locked up, keeping the
equipment shut, the person said.
The 170,000 bpd Golden Eagle refinery near Martinez, California,
supplies almost 10% of the states gasoline and 20% of its
diesel, according to the companys website. The refinery is Tesoros largest
and is the second-biggest in Northern California behind
Chevrons Richmond complex.
Tina Barbee, a spokeswoman, said by e-mail that the fire
didnt damage equipment and didnt affect the
companys ability to meet supply commitments.
