Even when using 3D CAD, advanced project management systems and fast-track concepts, projects now take longer than they did two decades ago. Schedule overruns occur as frequently, despite the application of advanced management systems. The automobile industry and other engineering and fabrication sectors have achieved dramatic improvements in productivity and delivery time; yet, the downstream industry still struggles to effectively oversee engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects and adhere to budgets and construction timelines.
