One of the more interesting aspects about working in the energy sector, as I have done for the last 36 years, is that this industry is always changing—technically, economically and even politically. For those outside this industry, the rate of change could seem slow, and even lagging behind the dot-com world. Those of us fortunate enough to be involved in one of the critical sectors, such as oil and gas (O&G), petrochemicals, mining, paper, cement and steel, should take that as a compliment. It proves that we are working ahead to address issues before they become problems.
