Leading to engineering completion, operating personnel need to convey to the project/construction team which sections of the unit/plant are to be handed over chronologically so that the entire procedure is smooth. This information is conveyed by dividing the unit/plant into sections called systems. Each operating facility and associated units are divided into logical process and/or piping equipment systems. Normally, the precommissioning and commissioning of units in the chemical process industry are carried out on a system-by-system basis.
