Construction begins for Shell FLNG facility in Australia
Prelude gas field project is progressing at rapid pace, with first LNG production expected by 2017
The Technip Samsung consortium (TSC) has begun construction of the first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project in the world, to be located at Shells Prelude gas field off the northwest coast of Australia (Fig. 1). TSC is providing engineering, procurement, construction and installation for the FLNG facility, according to officials from Shell who gave the go-ahead for the consortium to begin work.
