IRPC ’13: Day 2 stories, sights and sounds

NEW DELHI -- The agenda for the 2013 International Refining and Petrochemical Conference began on Tuesday, July 9, and concludes on Thursday, July 11.
This year, IRPC features more than 40 presentations with special focus on the latest advances in technology and operations at refineries and petrochemical plants.
Around 300 industry professionals are on hand as delegates for the event, which is being held at the famed Taj Palace near downtown New Delhi.

speaker, Dr. Ajit Sapre of Reliance Industries..
Dr. Ajit Sapre, group president of research and technology for India's Reliance, told
delegates that refining and petrochemicals integration is crucial..
The ballroom was packed to near capacity for Dr. Sapre's keynote presentation.
Delegates took time to network during Thursday morning's break for coffee and snacks.
Shankhaneel Borah of Sud Chemie India discussed an economic catalysis solution in
Thursday's petrochemical track.
Elliott Group was the room sponsor for the petrochemicals session, offering information on
compressors, turbines and global services.
K. Ravindranath of Laresen & Toubro Ltd. charied Thursday's refining session and
introduced several speakers.
Saurabh Dhir of Shell India enjoyed a light-hearted moment as he warmed up the crowd.
Sanjiv Ratan of Technip Stone & Webster clicked through several slides during his
presentation on advanced techniques for enhancing hydrogen availability.
Vipan Goel of W.R. Grace was eager to tell delegates about how to extend the performance
of propylene catalysts and additives.
In one of Thursday afternoon's closing sessions, Aurelio Ferrucci of PROMETHEUS S.r.l. told
delegates about tools to optimize planning and scheduling within refinery operations.
