Hydrocarbon Processing's IRPC gains steam in Milan

Hydrocarbon Processing’s seventh annual International Refining & Petrochemicals Conference (IRPC) took place at the Milan Marriott June 6 – 8 with great success. IRPC has become a well-established brand for high-level technical data and interaction among technical experts for the global downstream industry.

The event began with a tour of the ENI Sanazzaro refinery outside of Milan, where ENI has built a new unit based on ENI’s EST heavy oil conversion technology. ENI hosted the tour which included a presentation on the technology followed by a guided tour through the facility.

The VIP dinner on Monday night took place at a Milan club Circolo Della Stampa, a classic Italian building with beautiful gardens. Keynotes, sponsors and the advisory board enjoyed a very cordial dinner with good Italian wine and a very good time for all.

The conference opened on Tuesday morning with a keynote address by TOTAL on the digitization of all of TOTAL’s businesses, including refining and petrochemicals. Following was a two-day, three track technical conference attended by 280 – 300 delegates (as of this writing we are awaiting a final count). The Wednesday keynote was presented by Tanju Center, CEO of Turkey’s Star Refinery, and winner of HydrocarbonProcessing’s Project of the Year Award for 2016. Lee Nichols, editor of HP, presented the award after his keynote address.

28 sponsors and exhibitors supported this year’s event.

Congratulations go out to Melissa Smith, Tranessa Hunt and Elda Guidi of Mediapoint, for producing a very successful event. And a special thanks to Fabio Potesta of Mediapoint for involving the Italian industry and associations in hosting the international delegates.

The next IRPC will take place in New Delhi India in April 2017, and will be hosted by Indian Oil and supported by Petrofed, the association for oil and gas in India.
