Exxon to start production at polypropylene facility Exxon Chemical's new polypropylene facility in Baytown, Texas, with granule holding bins in foreground. Exxon Chemical Company's new polypropylene facility, Baytown, Texas, started up in June 1997 and has been operating above design capacity. Begun in late 1994, this expansion was completed six weeks ahead of schedule and under budget. It provides a 240-Mt py (529-MMlb/yr) increase to the company's total polypropylene capacity. M. W.
