Java Control and Automation Framework (JCAF) is an industry-driven initiative to bring innovative implementations of Java technology to the process control and automation industry. According to Sun Microsystems, JCAF is focused on technology adoption, pilot projects and market education. In an attempt to "listen to the market and drive technology adoption where there is a unique fit and need," Sun expects a shift toward standardization and adoption of the APIs relevant to process control and industrial automation.
