In the eight years that this column has been published, pump reliability improvements have been addressed on many occasions. A Brazilian maintenance consultant brought this fact to my attention. Also, he asked, "How many items should be investigated to improve the service life of a "bad actor" pump. When I replied 40 or more, the consultant challenged me to list them.
