Politicians and government workers and are notoriously out of touch with industry needs. Especially government workers; at least politicians have to have some feeling for their constituents' needs. On the other hand, industry rarely takes the time to get involved in the decision-making process. These unfortunate facts were recently brought home when I attended an international conference on health and safety in the workplace.
