An industrial lubricant user study surveys the attitudes, needs and future purchasing plans of users and specifiers across the U.S. manufacturing marketplace. Synthetic and hydrocracked lubricants are making headway in the market. Synthetics are used by more than 40% of the sites in four out of seven applications studied. Competition among lubricant manufacturers is intense. Although four were the top suppliers to 50% of the sites studied, over 100 different manufacturers were named as leading or second-leading supplier by at least one site.
