The North American pressure transmitter market continues to evolve from reliance on conventional transmitters to smart transmitters. A new market study from ARC concludes that "the pace of that transformation is now increasing." The rapid growth in smart pressure transmitters will be the driving force behind total market growth through 2003, when smart transmitters will make up the majority of shipments to the market, says ARC. The marked increase in smart transmitters can be attributed to strong growth in both the multivariable transmitter segment and the Fieldbus segment.
