ABB Lummus Global, Bloomfield, New Jersey, and China Petrochemical Technology Co. (SINOPEC TECH) have signed a cooperation agreement and formed a strategic alliance to develop and market new furnace technology for ethylene plants. The collaboration forges the capabilities and experiences of both companies in the area of furnace technology. ABB Lummus Global will contribute its worldwide SRT technology. The latest version, the SRT VI technology, was commercialized in 1996 in Korea and has been selected by eight companies with a combined ethylene output of over 2.5 MMtpy. SINOPEC TECH also has a broad technology base; its latest design is the CBL heater, which is operating in six plants.
