At the beginning of December, I flew over to England. I was running a week's course in reliability and maintainability as part of a MSc degree in process safety. On the way over, I had an interesting lesson in maintainability while changing planes in Stockholm. The aircraft for the Stockholm to Manchester leg turned out to be a very small jet – one with a rather dubious safety record. We had to be bussed out to the aircraft that was too small for the ramp. Arriving at the aircraft, we were kept waiting – without explanation, naturally – for about 10 minutes. Delayed due to safety reasons.
