The developed world celebrated the 30th anniversary
of Earth Day, which began as a call to conscience; we - the
public and industry - were reckless with Earth's natural
resources - clean air, water and soil. Outcries, demands and
protests from the public motivated many governments to
promulgate laws and set forth policies to conserve and
protect the environment. Governmental agencies were
then empowered to carry out / enforce these laws.
Much has changed since then; the environment
has improved. So do we declare victory and applaud our great
success that industry, especially the HPI, has achieved in
"cleaning up" its act
