ABB awarded ethane cracker contract from EC Erdölchemie EC Erdölchemie GmbH (EC) has awarded the detailed and authority engineering to ABB for a new ethane cracker train at its site in Worringen, Germany. The basic engineering for the plant has been completed based on ABB's ethylene technology. The design features advanced, short-residence-time (SRT) cracking heaters and the energy-efficient, low-pressure, demethanizer recovery sequence. The new ethane cracker train will operate two state-of-the-art SRT furnaces equipped with quick-quench exchangers and will crack ethane coming from EC's two existing crackers.
