Lee R. Raymond, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of ExxonMobil Corp., Irving, Texas, has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of the board of the American Petroleum Institute (API), effective Jan. 1, 2002. "The oil and natural gas industry plays a critical role in the U.S. and global economies. I look forward to this opportunity to again lead the nation's premier energy trade association, particularly now with the heightened emphasis on the need for a comprehensive national energy policy to enhance our nation's energy security and economic future," Raymond said.
