BASF to expand German plant BASF is expanding its hydroxylamine plant in Ludwingshafen, Germany by 1,300 metric tpy. This will raise total capacity to 7,000 metric tpy (calculated at 50% solution). The increase is scheduled for completion October 2001 and follows a 1,700-metric-ton increase that was completed in February 2001. The additional production supports growth in the life science, microchip and metal treatment markets. Bayer signs contract to build in China Bayer and Shanghai Chlor Alkali Chemicals Co. Ltd. have signed a contract to build Bayer Polymers Shanghai Co. Ltd. This is a joint venture for a Makrolon polycarbonate plant at the Shanghai Chemicals Industry Park in Caojing,
