North America ATOFINA Petrochemicals, Inc., Houston, Texas, an ATOFINA subsidiary, is going to expand and revamp its joint venture Cos-Mar styrene monomer facility located at Carville, Louisiana. The plant is a 50/50 joint venture between ATOFINA Petrochemicals, Inc., and General Electric Petrochemicals, a wholly owned General Electric subsidiary. ATOFINA operates the Cos-Mar facility, one of the largest styrene monomer plants in the world. The project will increase styrene capacity to 1.15 million metric tons (2.5 billion pounds).
