HPI facilities are modifying their systems to prevent or minimize terrorist and other attacks. The Construction Industry Institute (CII) is developing best practices for project security and a methodology for assessing the impacts on project outcomes from implementing such practices.
CII defines "security" broadly. The concept includes all measures taken to guard against malevolent, intentional acts - both internal and external - that result in adverse impacts such as project cost growth, safety concerns, transportation delays and emergency response. CII's team then set about selecting and prioritizing best practices for all phases of capital projects.
