Aker Kvaerner is conducting detailed design and planning activities for future offshore phases of the proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in the North Adriatic Sea. It previously performed the front-end engineering for the same facility. The new contract is scheduled for completion fourth-quarter 2004 and is worth $50 million. It does not include the final design work (i.e., the pipeline from the metering station to the main national grid). Certain project portions are still pending approval from Italian authorities.
