BASF Aktiengesellschaft (BASF) and Dow Chemical Co. have finalized plans to build a propylene oxide (PO) plant in Antwerp, Belgium. The new plant will implement the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to PO (HPPO) process. Solvay is the preferred H2O2 supply partner. Solvay and BASF are finalizing plans to build a large-scale H2O2 plant on BASF's site in Antwerp, based on Solvay's high-yield H2O2 production process. Pending final approval by its respective boards, the parties will create a joint venture to produce H2O2. The plant scaling and timing will meet the HPPO unit's needs and is expected to come onstream in 2008. The plant will produce 200,000 metric tpy of H2O2 in a single production
