Key environmental strategies with far-reaching implications for the process industries will be unveiled this month after all, according to the European Commission. This means that a clean air and marine fuels strategy should emerge during September, following intense lobbying by environmental groups who were concerned that the European president had put seven areas of environmental strategy on ice. There was general surprise before the summer break when the so-called Thematic Strategies disappeared from the College of Commissioner's agenda, a matter of hours after the European Parliament was informed that publication was on track by the Environment Commissioner, Stavros Dimas.
