Satellite images streamline large-scale plant projects In 2002, Marathon Oil Company purchased an interest in the Alba field, offshore Equatorial Guinea. The field is estimated to be Equatorial Guinea's largest gas field. Since this acquisition, Marathon and its government and private partners have embarked on a series of expansion projects that will enable significant gas resources there to be commercialized. One of Marathon Oil's projects is constructing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant and associated facilities on Bioko Island.
