Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) is using Invensys Process Systems to implement Triconex triple modular redundant technology (TMR) for safety instrumented systems applications. The TMR technology will be used at the Duque de Caxias refinery in Rio de Janeiro state (Reduc) and the Paulinia refinery in Sao Paulo state (Replan) in Brazil. The refineries, which are claimed to be among the largest in the Petrobras system, will each use multiple Tricon safety systems in its cracking units.
