  BASF's new engineering plastics compounding plant at its Pudong site in Shanghai, China, came onstream in March 2007. It has a capacity of 45,000 tpy. With the new plant, BASF's total compounding capacity in Asia exceeds 100,000 tpy.   Akzo Nobel plans to spend €250 million on building two chemical plants for the manufacture of ethylene amines and chelating agents in Ningo, China. A 50-hectare plot has been reserved within the Ningbo Chemical Industry Zone and work will begin once the relevant approvals have been obtained from the Chinese authorities.
