Horizontal liquefied natural gas storage tanks Mustang Engineering and Wood Group have been awarded a US patent for their LNG Smart Horizontal Storage Tanks. These full-containment tanks offer an alternative to conventional vertical LNG storage. The tanks have a modular design that is claimed to significantly reduce construction time, and the low horizontal profile reduces the facility's visual impact for local residents (Fig. 1).
