  Chevron Corp.'s main Chinese subsidiary has signed a 30-year production-sharing contract with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) for the joint development of the Chuandongbei natural gas area in central China. Chevron will take over the role of operator and hold a 49% participating interest and CNPC will hold a 51% interest in the project.   Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has a contract with Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (HPCL) to provide project management consultancy services for a lube oil base stock (LOBS) quality upgrading project at HPCL's refining complex in Mumbai, India. For a total investment cost of approximately $160 million, the plant will be upgraded
