Wood Mackenzie's analysis of the clean fuels race in Asia-Pacific shows that the cost to refiners of compliance with Euro IV quality standards for gasoline and diesel could total as much as $25 billion. The company's report assesses the different countries in the region and their progress in moving towards improving fuel quality. In Asia-Pacific, the standards vary widely from country to country, with significant investment required to bring them in line with the Euro IV standards and above. Refiners have to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in building clean-fuels units and they face multiple challenges in implementing clean-fuels legislation such as increased hydrogen requirements
