Labor union strike affecting US refining industry There is no end in sight to the United Steelworkers Union (USW) strike affecting several US refineries. The USW has filed unfair labor practices charges against nine refineries operated by BP-Husky, LyondellBasell Industries NV, Marathon Petroleum Corp. and Tesoro Corp., and is seeking wage increases, health benefits, tougher worker fatigue prevention measures, and an end to non-union contract workers performing refinery maintenance. Royal Dutch Shell is bargaining on behalf of employers.
