Gathering accurate data is essential for failure analysis and other types of research. It is relatively easy to do a literature search today. Before the availability of electronic methods, informed individuals, the library, periodicals and technical journals often provided the results needed. Science, engineering and technology centers, such as the Linda Hall Library in Missouri, provided research in most areas. In addition to the above sources, much of the data I require is now located on the Internet.
