According to <i>Hydrocarbon Processing's HPI Market Data 2018,</i>’ total capital expenditures (CAPEX) are expected to reach $144 B in 2018. Approximately $46 B of the total CAPEX will be within the global refining sector. Nearly 57% of refining investments will be in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions. These two regions account for nearly 70% of active refining projects globally. The majority of these projects are being built to satisfy domestic and/or regional demand, and will produce transportation fuels that meet low-sulfur and ultra-low-sulfur fuel regulations. This construction includes new greenfield facilities and expansions to existing plants. HP
