The European TOP-REF research consortium has developed and applied a methodology to improve the resource efficiency of industrial production processes. Additionally, a newly developed key resource indicator (KRI) that enables the consideration of material and energy streams in a single indicator—the resource exergy indicator (REI)—has been established.
