Hydrocarbon Processing’s Construction Boxscore Database is tracking more than 1,300 active projects in the hydrocarbon processing industries worldwide. Over the past decade, the Asia-Pacific region has led in total active projects. The region, especially China and India, are investing heavily to boost refining, petrochemical and LNG import capacity to satisfy increasing demand for fuels, plastics and natural gas. Several other Asian countries—Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines—are also spending billions of dollars into the early 2020s to increase domestic processing capacity.
