IMI Critical Engineering opens new Houston plant

Flow control solutions supplier IMI Critical Engineering has formally opened its new IMI Z&J (Zimmermann & Jansen) headquarters and manufacturing plant in Houston, Texas, the group announced Monday.

The new headquarters, located at the 150-acre Kennedy Greens Business Park in northeast Houston, serves as a focal point for IMI Z&J’s presence in the Americas. It comprises an area of 120,000 square feet -- several times the size of the facility in Humble, Texas, that the business previously occupied.

The company's new manufacturing facility will be shared with fellow IMI Critical Engineering business IMI Remosa and IMI CCI.

Daniele Cecchelli, president at IMI Z&J, said he views the relocation as a key milestone for the company.

“This new facility will not only enhance our manufacturing capabilities, but it will also provide our employees with a great work environment and help us better service our customers,” he said.

IMI says the manufacturing element has gone through many iterations to create a facility suited to meeting the requirements of the company's customers. The factory is entirely open plan and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery that will optimize the delivery of highly-engineered solutions and services.

The launch event, attended by an audience including several local dignitaries and customers, took place five years after the company became an IMI business in 2010.

IMI Z&J was originally founded in Germany and maintains a presence both there and in the US, South Africa and China. It is a leading manufacturer of high-quality, very large diameter severe service valves that are primarily used in the steel, glass, refining, chemical and petrochemical industries.
