Alon Refining contracts DuPont for Clean Fuels production technology

WILMINGTON, Del., – DuPont Clean Technologies (DuPont) has been awarded the contract to supply Alon Refining Krotz Springs (Alon), a part of Delek US, with a license and engineering services for the STRATCO® alkylation technology at the refinery in Krotz Springs, Louisiana.

The 6,500 bpsd STRATCO® alkylation unit will enable Alon to generate low-sulfur, high-octane, low-Rvp alkylate with zero olefins, improving the quality and quantity of the refinery’s gasoline pool to meet increasingly strict clean fuel standards.

“DuPont looks forward to working with Alon Refining on this exciting project. Adding an alkylation unit to the refinery enables Alon to increase its production volume of gasoline while producing multiple grades of summer fuel.  As STRATCO® Alkylation is the globally leading alkylation technology, DuPont is well-suited to provide the refinery with a commercially proven and reliable solution,” said Kevin Bockwinkel, global licensing business manager, STRATCO® Alkylation Technology.

The STRATCO® alkylation technology is the established global leader in the industry with over 90 units licensed worldwide and more than 850,000 BPSD (33,300 kmta) of installed capacity. STRATCO® alkylation technology is a sulfuric acid catalyzed process that converts low-value olefins into high-value alkylate, a key desirable component for clean fuel. With units built over 80 years still in operation, the STRATCO® Alkylation technology is a highly effective, reliable solution for producing produce cleaner-burning fuel with high octane, a low Rvp, low sulfur and zero olefins.
