The editors of Hydrocarbon Processing presented the downstream’s most trusted industry forecast, HPI Outlook 2019: What Does 2019 Hold for the Downstream?

Sponsored by Burns & McDonnell, hydrocarbon processing industry (HPI) professionals gained insight into the 2019 spending and activities of the global HPI. The editors presented projections for capital, maintenance and operating expenditures for the refining, petrochemicals and gas processing/LNG industries for 2019.

Registrants with job functions including, Engineer/Consultant, Company Official/Management, Foreman or Asst. Operator, Chemist and Purchasing Agent shared their personal preferences taken into consideration when selecting contractors for their projects.

To the question, “What is the number one trait you personally value in selecting engineering and construction contractors for your projects?” 57 percent said Technical capability is the number one trait they personally value when selecting contractors for their projects. 15 percent said Confidence in the ability to meet budget/schedule, 14 percent said Quality of deliverables, 12 percent said Past relationship/trust and 2 percent said Lowest cost/price.
