ISA, the international society for measurement and control, held their annual conference and exhibit Oct. 7–9 in Anaheim, California. This event has always been a good place to see trends in instrumentation and control, but due to the new format, we were wondering if our expectations would be fulfilled. They were. New format. Instead of large exhibits with concurrent technical sessions, ISA opted to put greater emphasis on the technical sessions and less on a large exhibition. This was accomplished by limiting booth sizes and holding the technical sessions and exhibition at different times to avoid conflict. Thus, technical sessions were conducted from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
