The Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) has updated its forecast of U.S. industry trends from 1997 to 2010. A summary of some of its recent conclusions:
Total U.S. natural gas demand is expected to continue increasing steadily throughout the rest of the decade, reaching 23 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) by 2000. The annual growth rate should average 1.5% from 1997 to 2000. From 2000 to 2010, natural gas demand will grow 1.7% to reach 24.7 Tcf.
U.S. natural gas production is forecast to continue increasing at an average annual rate of 1.5% through 2000, and continue at a 1.4% increase through 2010. Although this is a slower growth rate than that shown by c
