Demand for PVC grew 4.6% from 1992 to 1996. The market experienced strong growth in 1996; world demand increased 7.4% as compared to 1995, according to a new study from CMAI, Houston, Texas. Analysts with that firm forecast PVC demand will grow 4.6% from 1996 to 2002 Fig. 1 This growth is despite "the short-term slow growth forecast in 1998 and 1999 due to the financial and currency crisis in Asia."
