World ethylene capacity is expected to increase by 23.3 million tons (MMton) from 1997 to 2003, forecasts Chemical Market Associates, Inc. (CMAI). Construction of new steam crackers will occur in every major region, with the largest increment of new crackers (a total of six) expected to be built in the Middle East.
