Bearing upgrades I appreciated your "HP In Reliability" columns ( Sept. 2001 and May 2002) dealing with bearing upgrades. I am assuming that oil flood lubrication means the bearing has "sump lubrication," but would like confirmation. I also would like answers to the following questions: If the journal or plain bearing has an oil ring, can it be converted to "flooded" lubrication? Would the oil ring have to be discarded? When would this flooded lubrication be preferred over oil mist?   Rahimi
