New catalyst boosts gasoline yields Engelhard Corp. has released a new proprietary catalyst technology named Flex-Tec. It is estimated to significantly improve gasoline yield from heavy resids. Flex-Tec is well adapted to handling resid feedstocks that contain high levels of contaminant metals such as nickel, vanadium and iron. This new catalyst incorporates the benefits of the company's distributed matrix structure (DMS) technology and MaxiMet - a new matrix technology that improves passivation of contaminant metals.
